55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
We will be using various Google's online development tools to help illustrate the different types of code that form the basis of any web application. Our class will be an introduction for any teenager that wants to know more about writing code for websites. High level Computer Science topics such as variables, data structures, and control logic will be discussed. We'll also cover general concepts such as the components of a website and how they work together. Our class will be highly interactive as we walk through real examples together. The Google development tools that help support the class content are available to anyone online. Our class size will be relatively small (maximum 6) to be conducive to sharing questions within the class, and having more interaction between each other. Although there will be some slides and some lecturing, most of the class will consist of learners working with me to build a simple web application together, and then having each learner personalize their own copies of their creations.
Learning Goals
Everyone will learn how different types of code form components and how those parts fit together to form a web application. At the end of the session, learners will have completed their own simple web application, and hopefully be inspired to learn other varieties of computer programming.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi Outschool Community!
I am a curious coder, and I want to help avid learners acquire the computer coding skills they need to attend college or university, or enter the workforce.
I have been coding business applications for over 20 years now for several large tech companies. As part of my duties, I onboard and train interns, co-op students, and new hires. My education includes a Bachelor of Mathematics in Computer Science as well as several industry certifications.
My hope is to have a very interactive class that can help prepare, inspire, and guide young adult minds and prepare them for future innovations. I want our avid learners to take a practical approach and learn through experience. The class that codes together, can pave new roads together.
Outside of coding, I enjoy flying drones (remotely piloted aircraft or unmanned aerial vehicles), and I would like to incorporate some of that knowledge into future classes.
Thanks for reading, and keep learning :)
