Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Beginner Level
In this course learners will begin immediately to have conversation exchanges with one another in Mandarin Chinese by inquiring each others' names in Mandarin Chinese. They will learn how Chinese pronunciation works and will learn to introduce themselves stating their name and their age, ask others for their name and age, use the verb 'to be' and count to 19. Class time is spent participating in implementation and enrichment activities to develop fluency and language retention in a social environment. Teaching style includes games such as matching games, role-play, visuals and question/answer exchange. Conversation exchanges are between both teacher/student and student/student. Videos and vocabulary practice are provided for enrichment in between classes. The last week is spent combining everything learned, developing fluency and evaluating progress. Students will learn to write basic Chinese character stokes and also numbers 1-10.

Week 1: Pronunciation and asking what someone's name is.
Week 2: Numbers 1-10 and the verb, 'to be'.
Week 3: Numbers 11-19 and saying how old you are.
Week 4: Practice and review.
