Learn to code while practicing your Spanish! This class will be taught in Spanish and is a great introduction to Arduino and Physical Computing. Learners will explore physical computing using the popular Arduino microcontroller platform. We will put together simple electronic circuits and write programs (Arduino “sketches”) to create projects that light up, move, and make sound! No prior experience with physical computing or Arduino is required. Learners only need to have an interest in new...
This class will be co-taught by Wayne Seltzer and Sergio Laureano. Wayne is the Build a Robot advisor and instructor. He also teaches robotics engineering camps at CU Science Discovery and is a technologist in residence at the ATLAS Institute, at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Wayne founded and manages the Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic, where participants learn to repair broken appliances, toys and electronics with help from volunteer “fix-it” coaches. Previously, Wayne was a product manager and software engineering manager at Oracle and Sun Microsystems, responsible for service automation technologies and operating systems development. He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.). His interests include STEAM education and musical instrument user interfaces, and his work experiences include operating systems and networking, home and office automation, electronics, CAD/CAM, database replication, software localization and telecommunications. Sergio is a Build a Robot instructor and teaches classes/lectures at ATLAS Institute, at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has an incredible portfolio as a technician who has a gift in combining technology with the arts and has worked in museums, concert halls, and theaters around the world. He is fluent in both English and Spanish. He loves learning new technology and is highly skilled in Python, RaspberryPi, Gimp, Bootstrap, and Arduino. He is looking forward to a fun-filled class that will highlight both Spanish and physical computing with Arduino.
