Class experience

This class is taught in English.
Each week, you will receive videos that teach techniques and skills for each step in learning watercolor painting. These videos are the practice before doing the projects associated with the techniques. The projects will either be on the same video depending on the techniques, or will be on a separate video. But will be marked so you know. Each week there will also be tip videos posted on Wednesdays.
This has been one of my more popular classes I've offered to my local Homeschool group, local community during the summer, and even with my adult private lessons. Since Part 1 was so loved, I have actually broken things down into more easily followed plans, lessons, and projects. Now this is a 3 part series class. So that students and parents can easily see where we are, what we are focusing on, and be able to see the progression with each class. I love teaching watercolor, it's a fun fluid medium where you can be incredibly creative. My favorite part about teaching art classes is when I get to see the world through the eyes of the students by viewing their interpretations of the assignments I give them in class.

As mentioned in my teacher profile I have 10 years of experience teaching early education pre-K classes, in both North Carolina and Utah. I have been able to use my degrees in Visual Arts with a focus on Art History from NCSU and my Associate in Arts from Wake Tech Community College, to teach kids and adults: various art classes here in North Carolina for the past 7 years. With my scouting connections I have had 5 years experience teaching science and history classes in North Carolina and Florida. Whether it was as a Co-Op teacher for my local home school groups, Art merit Badge Counselor for the local Boy Scout clinic, teaching STEAM classes for Cub Scouts, Nail art and Jewelry Crafting to teenage girls in my church, or summer art classes through my business, The Painting Panda, I love being able to share what I have learned!
Supplies Needed:
*Watercolor paper size: 8x10 or 9x12 (or similar size)
*Brush set (any brand) (medium size flat tipped brush, medium sized tear drop/ rounded brush, 2 different sized detail brushes (the tip of the brush will not matter). Please note that natural bristles will shed while you paint, and most watercolor artists prefer these. Synthetic bristles will not and for beginners it is better not to have your brushes shedding in your work.
*1 inch flat tipped brush
*1 Black Fine Tipped Sharpie (must be sharpie as gel pens bleed with the watercolor)
*Tablet watercolors set of 36 Artist's Loft brand (found on Amazon) Any other set will not have the same colors in the same order that I do, and I show specific colors being used in my videos.
*Paper Towels or a re-usable rag
*Painter's tape (this is a must) The 1/2"-1" is fine no need for larger

TIP: Watercolor is a drippy medium (or tool for doing art) please don't use an easel for painting with watercolors!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If this is your learner's first Outschool class I recommend getting familiar with the Zoom interface and platform before the class starts. Outschool has a few articles and videos that can help. Unfortunately I am really unable to deal with any technical issues once class has begun and if you are experiencing issues, it's best to contact technical support at Outschool directly via the HELP tab on the website.

Hi parents,
I have created a really fun interactive classroom through google sheets for one of our extra parts to class. This classroom has images of my own watercolor art that the students get to click on for a fun game or video. The videos are links to youtube videos (some are my own, and others are from kid friendly watercolor themed resources). I have done everything on my end to remove ads, however if you need to do something on your end to remove ads, or stop other videos from playing after the initial one I have linked please have those settings already in place, otherwise you can view along side your child. This is an optional extra your child can participate in, that is really fun.
