Class Experience

This course will be covering the following processes in iMovie editing software on a Macbook Air.
1. Adding your video content into the editing space
2. Cutting, Splitting, and Trimming clips to make them what you're wanting
3. Adjusting the sound and picture quality of videos
4. Adjusting the speed of videos (creating time lapses)
5. Adding sounds and/or music and Titles
6. Saving or Exporting your video

The class will be a mix of live and pre-recorded segments, which will allow students ample time to complete specific tasks during the class and ask questions.

Learners should know how to utilize a Macbook, in general and how to upload content to their device. If learners are able to import their videos into iMovie prior to the class, this will be useful, as some videos may take longer to import than others.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to edit a short video segment using iMovie video editing software.

Parental Guidance
While iMovie is a pre-loaded software which comes standard on Mac computers, students may desire to upload their videos to other platforms such as YouTube. Uploading to YouTube will not be required in this course and parents should be aware of the potential for students to upload to YouTube. In iMovie, there is an export option titled "Upload to YouTube", which makes the process easy, for those who have parent permission to upload to YouTube. However, all parents should be aware of this option and discuss internet safety and house expectations with children prior to participating in the course.
Supply List
A short (less than 5 minutes, preferred) video clip which you are wanting to edit. Suggested video topics include: A brief tutorial, a video about yourself (First name, favorite color, favorite food, hobbies or activities you participate in, why you want to learn about iMovie editing, etc.), an introduction to your "channel" if you are planning to upload to YouTube, a fun video of something else.
*Please have the video already imported onto computer, preferably pre-loaded into iMovie. However, I will be showing some ways to import content into iMovie.

A Macbook or download of iMovie is REQUIRED

Optional: Photos, copyright-free music or sound effects
