Medical terms are often heard on veterinary TV shows/movies & in books. This class will help your animal lover/future veterinarian learn how medical terms are created and the best ways to learn medical language!

Class Experience

Beginner Level
In this class learners will be introduced to how medical terms are broken down into the prefixes, suffixes, and roots. Examples will be given as we review some commonly used medical terms and how they are broken down. We will also review some commonly used abbreviations used in an animal's medical record.The rest of class will be a game to practice some of the terms we learned during class. This will be either a bingo game or a Jeopardy! game.  

This class is for learners who are new at medical terminology and have not had Advanced Vet 1 or Advanced Vet 6 yet.
Learning Goals
Learners will develop a basic understanding of how medical terms are created using a prefix, suffix and root. They will also learn some commonly used medical abbreviations.

I have been a certified veterinarytechnician for more than 30 years, have a MEd from Colorado State University and a Master of Veterinary Education (MVEd) from Lincoln Memorial University’s School of Veterinary Medicine.  
I have been teaching  at local community colleges in veterinary Assistant Programs and a variety of Veterinary Science programs for grades 3-5, 6-8, and high school. I also teach at a private university in an equine studies program. 
I am also a homeschool mom! At home, my family has 2 mini horses, 4 Nigerian dwarf goats, 6 chickens and 4 cats! 
 I am absolutely passionate about sharing my experience and love for animals and veterinary medicine with others and look forward to helping your learner explore the possibilities in veterinary science!
