Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Through lectures and activities, students will learn the basics of the US government. In week 1, we will discuss the basis of law. We will look at English Common Law and Colonial Law. In week 2, we will look at the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution. In week 3, we will look at the Articles of Confederation and the failure of the Articles. In week 4, we will look at the setup of the government in the Constitution.  In week 5, we will look at Federalists and AntiFederalists and the need for a Bill of Rights. In our final week, we will look at relevant Amendments that have been added to the Constitution, such as Amendments 13-15, the 19th Amendment and the 26th Amendment.
