This Class meets once a week for 3 consecutive weeks. Each class begins with a welcome for the student, an introduction to the type of meditation, and a closing with reflections. In Class #1, Learner will be introduced to the Mindfulness Meditation specifically. The meditation portion of the class is structured as follows: a) Align the posture for meditation; b) reconnect with the breath; c) center/ground; d) be guided through the particular meditation process aimed at cultivating the...
Teacher's background is in psychology; in addition she has studied Yoga Psychology, is an experienced Meditator and teaches private students (teenagers and adults), at a counseling center (children, teenagers and adults) and at the college level (adults) as an elective class.
Learner will require a quiet space in the home without interruptions or unnecessary electronics. Learner may practice sitting on a chair in the western style, or in the traditional meditative posture sitting in a comfortable cross legged pose. Either choice is fine, what matters is that Learner will be comfortable so he/she may hold the pose steadily and comfortably. Learner may want to keep a notebook and pen handy to write down any notes of personal interest like in a journal.
Informal by assessing students understand the process of meditation and clarifying any questions they may have.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
