No previous programming knowledge needed. Join us as you start your computer science journey. This course is an introduction to computer science using the programming language Scratch, developed by MIT. Starting with the basics of using Scratch, the course will stretch your mind and challenge you. You will learn how to create amazing games, animated images and songs in just minutes with a simple “drag and drop” interface. Scratch is the computer programming language that makes it easy and fun to create interactive stories, games and animations and share them online.
I am offering this class because I am passionate about the importance of new digital technologies and the future jobs in this world.
No homework but students are encourage to take what they have learned to create optional extension activities.
After the first 30 min class, I will provide a special link where the students will sign up for our Scratch classroom. This is where I will give feedback on their projects outside of the live class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will be assessed by using the concepts taught in class and applying them to their creative computer exercises.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
