In this class students will accomplish building mechatronic (mechanical/electronic) gadgets that are geared around giving them a clear introduction to the field of engineering. Students will build things like Traffic Lights, Alarm Systems, Night Lights and Mini Playable Pianos. The class progression will follow the format of the students actively building the "Project of the Day" alongside me while I build the device on screen using a platform called TinkerCAD using the same components in which students have in their purchased Elegoo Kit, from there we will move over to the Arduino online editor and review the code provided by me to understand how and why it works, then upload it and see our gadget working. The outline for the ongoing class will look like: Week of 3/6: Building a Mini Traffic Light Week of 3/13: Building a Night Light Week of 3/20: Building an Alarm System Week of 3/27: Building a Mini Piano All weeks will use the same Elegoo UNO kit required to be purchased as material for the class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the intro concepts of mechatronics and programming

Parental Guidance
This class requires to have a plugin installed for Arduino Create in order for the code that we write to work for the projects we build, and an account will be required to be able to utilize the program, so it is recommended that parents complete this step prior to class, but do not need to be present during the duration of the class.
Supply List
Elegoo UNO Kit: https://amzn.to/3Fwmank This kit will be used for the students to be able to physically build their gadgets.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a passion for teaching classes in Programming specifically using Python as well as classes that work with building cool things! I have been working on both spaces for about 4 years now and I love the work that I have been able to do, but more importantly the students I have been able to teach and work with. I look at teaching as a way to get students excited about teaching, because if someone enjoys something, they are likely to share it with others, and that alone starts the cycle of learning that makes teaching such a rewarding field.
