FYI: This one-time class is for students without any previous coding experience. Students are expected to have some keyboarding experience. Even if it's only two-finger hunting and pecking. Students will be typing their own lines of code in class. We will not be doing any block-based programming (like Scratch). This one-time class is a short introduction to coding and the Python (programming) language. Students will learn how to code (in Python) at a beginner level. And students...
Students will learn what coding is, what Python is, and why coding is cool & popular. Students will learn the following coding concepts: Value, variable, integer, string, object, method, argument, and parameter.
Students will be expected to complete their own works of digital art after this class. Students should expect to complete their works of digital art within one hour on their own time (on average). Students are (highly) encouraged to share their completed digital artworks with friends and family.
Preferably, the student will have either a desktop computer or a laptop computer available for this class. Preferably, a Mac computer or a Windows computer. iPads (and tablets) should work also if an external keyboard is available for the student to use with the iPad (or tablet).
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
A. Warning! Mr. Hun grew up in NYC, NY. From the age of 5 to 45. Now lives on the west coast. NYC culture is characterized by sarcasm. Which (sadly) does NOT exist outside of the NE. Mr. Hun does his utmost best to keep his sarcasm under control. And be professional at all times. But sometimes his NYC culture peeks through once in a while. So, if you and/or your learner are offended by sarcasm or jokes. Please, do NOT register for any of Mr. Hun's classes. Thank you (said without any sarcasm whatsoever). B. This one-time coding class requires Python 3.x. If your learner already has Python 3.x installed on a desktop or a laptop, then your learner is ready to go. If your learner does not have Python 3.x installed on a laptop or a desktop, and your learner is under the age of 13, then, please, create an account for your learner on the Trinket.io website. As per Outschool's policies on external third-party tools/websites, parental consent is required for this resource. Trinket.io has a free account available. Their premium (paid) plan is not required for this one-time coding class.
