Weekly scavenger hunt challenge - report back with photos or descriptions! An additional activity will be included each week for those that want to continue working. All learners should post their work each week to the classroom page and check in to see the work of others. Adding positive comments and feedback to fellow learners is expected and will help us communicate our thoughts with the new design terminology we have learned in class.Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
In this 4-week course, students will learn how to draw a variety of prints using markers, crayons, or colored pencils. We will review the terminology of prints and patterns used in the designs we see in our everyday life from clothing to interior textiles. We will discuss and create a variety of prints including dots, stripes, plaids, florals, geometrics, and more! Each week, we will focus on a specific print category. At the end of the course, your child will use the techniques they learned to design their own prints to create a tee shirt or pillow collection. Print-outs are included in the welcome email. This class is perfect for anyone curious about how to apply a love of art to a job in design including an interest in fashion design, interior design, and textile design. Class Schedule: Week 1 - Dots + Stripes Week 2 - Plaids Week 3 - Florals Week 4 - Geometrics + More! Each week we will have a scavenger-hunt challenge focused on the print(s) of the week. Noticing the prints and patterns around us will not only serve as a visual reference, but it will help us better understand the context in our everyday lives whether it is in our homes, out in the world or in nature! At the end of each lesson, each learner is expected to post their work (even if it's just practice pages) and ask any questions they may have. I will be working alongside everyone, giving feedback, offering ideas, and helping us learn design language and how to speak positively about the creative work of our peers. All learners should check the classroom page to see the work of others and engage in positive comments and feedback when they are so inspired! This helps promote a positive design studio environment and is a great life skill when working in a collaborative, creative team! Please Note: This course has NO LIVE MEETINGS. This allows learners to work at any time throughout the course, but please make sure to post each week's assignment within the given week. I will be actively engaging with leaners in the "Classroom" tab and can always be reached there or through direct message!
