Intro to Poetry | Creative Writing Class for Ages 9-11
In this one time course, learners will learn the basic elements of poetry and begin finding their voices as poets.

Anyone can be a poet. This class is for anyone 9-11 who is interested in writing their own poems. This class is designed to help introduce learners to their inner poet while going over the basic elements of poetry. We will cover: ✅ The basic elements of poetry ✅ What the elements of a poem look like in a poem ✅ What it means to be a poet ✅ How to banish any negative voices saying you can't do it ✅ How to get started on a poem (including prompts that can be reused over and over again) We will also have time to begin writing a poem and possibly share if time allows. Learners will learn in an affirming, positive environment that allows them to be comfortable with themselves as poets. We will use slides, discussion, and an example poem to enhance our learning. Learners don't need any experience writing poetry - just a willingness to learn! I can't wait to see your learner in my classroom!
