Theses classes provide students with the structures to better reflect on their days, themselves, and their experiences/environment. Students will work on their confidence to move their bodies and to express themselves through writing & movement. - Students will gain a greater sense of body awareness and control. - Students will practice memorization, execution and musicality through movement. - Students will be given prompts for the practice of journaling and self reflection. This class is designed to provide students with the foundation of habitual practice and intention in their day; enabling them to better care for their wellbeing through the acts of writing and movement. I believe dance is a wonderful art form that gives us the space to come alive. As an educator, my main objective is creating a safe space where students can try, learn, and thrive.
I have studied various styles of dance for 10 years. I have been teaching students for 6 years. I have experience working with Master of Fine Arts graduates on their theses. I partook as both a researcher and dance performer. The research conducted involved somatic movement, journaling, and dance improvisation. I also have an interest in literature related to healthy habits, somatic movement, and journaling.
Students are encouraged to practice journaling and movement throughout the rest of their week. Studies show gratitude journaling 1-3 times per week provide the greatest effects on our wellbeing. If you would like to continue these practices with guidance or a student cohort, we have an ongoing (weekly or drop-in) class that focuses on journaling and movement!
