This is an acting ritual that builds classroom community, but also provides students with the metaphorical “tools” that will be needed to become a successful performer. - Engage in imaginative play. - Improvise a character and setting from a story. - Demonstrate the give and take essential to effective collaboration. - Demonstrate active listening. - Use variations of voice, movement, and gesture for different characters.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
- Class will incorporate C.H.A.M.P.S. (Conversation, Help, Activity, Movement, Participation, and Success) This is a system of expectations that will be covered before each day of camp. It is an opportunity for students to ask clarifying questions and to help create a successful and safe learning environment. - Physical activity will not be overly strenuous. Students are encouraged but not required to wear comfortable clothing that supports flexible movement.
