Similar to Irish Dance, but with more of a ballet influence, in this course, students will be introduced to Scottish Highland Dance, and Scottish Heritage.
Class Experience
Students will be taught the basic foot and arm positions, dance movements, and they will learn steps out of the Highland Fling-the first dance that beginner dancers compete in. I have a positive teaching style-as all research shows that positive feedback and encouragement motivate dancers more than the “old school” model. I am a certified Scottish Highland Dance teacher with the British Association Teachers of dance. I received highly commended on my exam. I am a 6 time champion dancer, winning championships across the United States.
Assessment
Frequency: Available upon requestDetails: An informal assessment will be completed to take note of what the dancer does well and what the dancer needs to improve on. This will occur on the last day
They will need an open space to dance, with a flat, even floor to dance on- Approximately 6 feet by 6 feet. They should have a water bottle-as Scottish Highland Dance is very athletic. We will make sure to have a proper warm up and cool down.
