Many of the things we see today have come from the stories and events told in Greek Mythology. The brand Nike, constellations, and the Olympics are just a few things that get their names from Greek Mythology. Learning Greek Mythology is not only a great way to understand the origins of many things you may see every day, but it's also an essential part of history. The ancient Greeks supplied us with vital information for tools, philosophy, art, and architecture, and many of their creations came from their beliefs in the gods, goddesses, and other deities they worshipped. In this class, we will begin exploring the basics of Greek Mythology in order to better understand the ancient world as well as our world today. This course will meet once as an introductory lesson into learning Greek Mythology. During this class, we will go over basic vocabulary and a short lesson about the creation of the universe according to Greek Mythology. Learners will be supplied with a worksheet to fill out that includes vocabulary words and a short chart outlining the Greek Mythology Creation Story for learners to fill in during the lesson.
Learning Goals
Students should finish this class with a basic understanding of how the world was created according to Greek Mythology, the first primordial deities in Greek Mythology, and how to use new vocabulary words that are needed when discussing Greek Mythology.
