Description

Class Experience

Students will expand their vocabulary and be able to create compound sentences using a variety of verbs in the present tense.
I was educated bilingually in Canada all the way through university, where I graduated with an Honours double major degree in psychology and French studies from a bilingual university (Université York). The majority of my teachers and professors were from France, so my accent is more French than French Canadian. I've taught beginner French classes at the middle school and high school levels at a large home school co-op and also to my own four children as I home educated them for eight years.
Students will be encouraged to practice writing sentences and conjugating verbs during the week between classes. Each week, I'll provide notes containing grammar guidelines/rules and vocabulary, as well as several passages to translate, questions to answer, and sentences to complete. In the last two weeks of the section, I'll be giving short writing assignments for homework.
A pencil and paper will help students take notes and practice writing sentences during class.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
I encourage students to use Word Reference.com as an online French-English dictionary. I will also be providing Word documents each week that will contain vocabulary and grammar rules that we'll be studying in class, as well as exercises involving translation, completing sentences, etc..
