Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Learn how to develop a collection just like a fashion designer! Each week we will work on a different step in the design development process. At the end of the course, learners will have a completed project that replicates the work shown in fashion design portfolios.

Week 1: Construct a concept board
Week 2: Develop color palettes
Week 3: Build a fabric story
Week 4: Create print designs
Week 5: Sketch design ideas
Week 6: Edit + Illustrate
Week 7: Focus on flats
Week 8: Present fashion collection

Each week, learners will be expected to upload their weekly projects before the start of the next lesson. I will be working alongside everyone, giving feedback, offering ideas, and helping along the way! Each week there will also be a fashion pop quiz question posted in the Classroom. These questions will further our understanding of the weekly lesson in a fun (and sometimes funny) way!

Throughout the course, we will work together in creating our collection and explore how to think like fashion designers. In the last week of class, we will be learning how to communicate our design ideas and share the fashion collections we've created! Video submission of the student presenting their work is the final assignment. No need to worry about a clean background or lighting! This should be a stress-free, fun way to share! Each student will receive personalized feedback at the end of the course; highlighting strengths, and inspiring them to continue their fashion journey! Additional resources and a custom design development template will be provided. See below for basic materials needed. No previous experience is required.

Please Note:
This course has NO LIVE MEETINGS. This allows learners to work at any time throughout the course, but please make sure to post each week's assignment within the given week. I will be actively engaging with learners in the "Classroom" tab and can always be reached there or through direct message!
Learning Goals
Students will learn the step-by-step process of developing a collection through activity-based projects. The projects we complete will replicate the development process shown in fashion design portfolios.
