In this one-time class, your child will complete a fun workout while covering all of the 7 foundational movements: squat, hinge, lunge, rotation, gait, push, and pull. We will complete a dynamic warm up, and 4 blocks: lower body (squat/hinge), 3 lunges, abdominal/core (rotation), upper body (push/pull). This will provide an inclusive introduction to proper movement mechanics, which would be helpful to young athletes interested in beginning weight lifting to elevate their performance as well...
Students will improve their understanding of the basics of movement by practicing the 7 foundational movements. They will strengthen their mind-body connections and set a strong foundation for a life time of health.
The instructor is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA).
No equipment required. Helpful equipment may include, bench or chair, dumbbells, weights, or household objects to add additional resistance/challenges.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The learner will be assessed via visual observation by the instructor in the areas of form, number of reps able to complete, range of motion, and weight lifted (when applicable). The instructor will provide verbal and written feedback for each student.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Guardians be advised: anytime physical exercise takes place, there is risk of bodily injury. Pease, ensure your student is cleared for exercise by a physician and is properly dressed in athletic wear, sneakers, and has an open space to perform movement. Please, have water and a towel or yoga mat available.
