Description
Class Experience
By the end of class, students should either be finished creating a character, or have a good understanding on how to complete their character on their own.
I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons for three years, including two years as a Dungeon Master. As a 3rd year public school teacher, I aim to help young learners access the social and emotional benefits of collaborative story telling through D&D.
Players will need an account on DnDBeyond.com for character creation purposes, and will need to be logged in at the start of class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Part of D&D involves combat, as adventurers might have to resort to physical combat to defeat monsters and foes. However, in games that I run for this age range, combat is not a focus in the game experience. Any in-game combat will always be described in an age-appropriate manner.
We will be referencing the rules in the Player's Handbook for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, as well as the free online source DnDBeyond.com for character creation.
