Drawing for Beginners Flex version! In this course, we discuss an intro level of all things drawing. A certified instructor guides learners through engaging and fun drawing lessons to help build a foundational understanding of drawing.

What's included

Homework
1 hour per week. Students will work to complete a new drawing each week. Time needed for this is dependent upon the pace of your learners drawing creative process.

Class Experience

Beginner Level
Are you interested in Art but don't a know where to start? Do you find yourself curious about all you can do with a simple pencil and a piece of paper? If so, then this class is for you! NO experience required for this first-step course in your journey of art making. 

Ms. Amy will guide your learner through approachable yet challenging drawing lessons varying in focus each week. We will cover a variety of drawing topics: value, texture, line, negative/positive space, perspective, rendering, composition, portraits, landscapes, animals, optical illusion, symmetry, scale, and art fundamentals... just to name a few! Students will have an opportunity to receive feedback from their peers and instructor about their work via messaging systems and class posts. They will also be provided the opportunity to give feedback to others. Learners are encouraged to post their work in the Classroom, as it will operate an an online rolling gallery exhibition. As an instructor, she focuses on engaging students imagination and personal voice. There is lots of room for interpretation of projects and opportunities for growth an individual basis. 
 
Class topics as follows: 

Week 1: Make a Maze! Let’s draw an interactive drawing considering theme, design, illustration and FUN! 

Week 2: Kawaii! This popular and adorable style is a branch of Japanese Manga. We will learn or reinforce the basic techniques of Kawaii using line, shape and color. 

Week 3: Future World! Let’s get in a time machine and imagine what the world we be like hundreds of years from now. What kind futuristic city can we make using basic geometric shapes? 

Week 4: Magic Show Gone Wrong! Let’s draw a magic show on stage with an unexpected twist! Let’s explore visual storytelling with humor together!

Amy Pollman is an internationally traveled Artist and Educator. She received her Master’s in Art Education from the University of Toledo with accreditation to teach K-12 in Art (2018) from the Ohio Department of Education, her MFA from Syracuse University in 2003, and her BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design in 1999. As a passionate educator of the Arts, Ms. Pollman advocates for cross-curricular integration, global citizenry, and development of personal voice in the classroom. Her methodology can be defined as a collaboration between student and teaching artist.
