Class Experience
What is a crime? We will look at the underlying elements that make up a crime: Actus Reus, Mens Rea, Concurrence, and Causation. Almost every crime is made up of these four elements. We will get a concrete understanding of what each of those four parts are, and we will explore other factors in crimes that will increase our understanding of the topic. - Students will learn the basic elements of a crime - Students will learn to look for the little details, think through a problem, and not settle on the first answer that jumps to mind - Students will have a broader understanding of the world of criminal law
I am a practicing attorney and a high school teacher with over ten years experience teaching law to high school age students.
There is no homework outside of class, but discussions may overflow to the online classroom.
1 file available upon enrollmentEither print out the Discussion Outline or have it available to type on for the class.
Assessment will be done as we move through the class during discussion.
3 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
With all of my Criminal Law or Criminal Procedure classes, I strongly encourage parents to look over the Discussion Outlines to make sure the content is suitable for their learner. We discuss crimes of all sort, ranging from murder to property crimes, so please be aware of that. Please message me if you have any issues.
