Hi! Intro to Contortion is an intermediate to advanced class. In this class, students will learn and safely practice passive and active stretches, as well as begin learning contortion skills once the required muscle strength is observed. They will work their way up from fundamental skills and stretches into higher level skills, with the small class size allowing for individual goals and lesson plans. We will cover drills for back folds, hand balance holds, splits and straddle positions, needles, and transitions. I will demonstrate most of the drills and skills and point out cues and focuses in each one. I provide corrections and drills to students to ensure they are able to continue practicing and improving while outside of class. Please message me with any other questions or interest for this class. Some skills it is recommended students have before this class: Splits Strong backbend Basic handstand hold(any shape)
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Parental supervision is recommended, along with plenty of space, a mat or padded floor, and required experience to complete this class safely. Injury can occur if skills are not performed correctly or directions are not followed properly.
Pre-Requisites
To ensure safety and efficiency of the class, students are required to already have their standing backbend, a kick up to handstand, and left/right splits.
Supply List
A mat (preferred) or padded floor, and plenty of space (at least body length in each direction).
