Description
Class Experience
Coders play an essential role in our everyday lives, from designing reliable apps and games for all ages. Coders play a crucial role in advancing our technology to help me make our world a more connected and safer place. Students will learn the basics of coding games in our Coding & Game Design class and understand its steps to create a successful design. In this course, students will put on their coding caps and test their abilities by creating different projects related to the commands learned throughout the class. Students will learn that being a game coder starts with understanding the vocabulary and navigating and troubleshooting errors that may arise. With the instructor's guide, students will learn that they, too, can be a part of the coding process if they are willing to try.
Bright & Smart started in 2005. We have been teaching and developing our programs for the past 15 years. We create our programs with students' learning experience in mind; we want them to learn to love STEM. To develop their higher cognitive skills and natural abilities, we help them see themselves as technology creators.
Students will be allowed to continue to improve their projects in between meetings. Before every class, students can present their projects and the improvements they made in the process.
The following system OS/hardware will ensure Microsoft MakeCode runs smoothly: A PC or Mac computer running at least Windows 7 or macOS 10.10 At least 1 GB of system memory. Internet access. This keeps the software up-to-date and lets you save projects to your account. Also, the following hardware will enhance your experience: A 2-button mouse with a scroll wheel. A dedicated video card (not an integrated card).
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No assessment will be administered. This class is for students to challenge themselves to think outside the box and place themselves in software engineers' minds.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
