Description

Class Experience

Students will learn the skills and tips of the beginning stages to design a character: using line, shape and form to draw out a character and background, using photo references to make poses and backgrounds, how to use creative writing to build a story from the ground up and how to give and receive critique for their artwork. In addition, students will have the chance to build/grow their imagination, social skills and confidence via interaction with their classmates.
This class does not cover or involve any topics deemed "sensitive" or "high-risk".
This class does include homework. The students will use time outside of class to finish whatever work they didn’t complete during class time.
Students must come prepared with a pencil, eraser, paper, and coloring tools of choice (traditional drawing) or tablet, stylist, computer (for digital drawing), and a mirror. And don’t forget a positive attitude!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There are no letter grade or written assessments for this class. Students will receive critique (includes suggestions on what to change or how to improve an idea) from classmates and the teacher. The only requirement is to have the work completed by the end of class to the best of their ability.
7 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This course does not include any content that is considered "adult" or "not child friendly". All information given is child appropriate and can be shared with people of all ages.
Sources used for class include recorded video lectures of the powerpoint presentations for all information covered in class.
