Intro to Cells- Pro/Eukaryotic, Plant and Animal Cells Flex Class
In this 4-week Flex class, participants will learn about Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells, phospholipids, organelles, and their functions, as well as compare/contrast plant/animal cells. Hands-on activities will be presented in each class!

Class Experience
Let's learn all about cells! During this 4 part class you'll learn all about prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, phospholipids, various organelles and their functions in plants and animal cells. This class is for students that want hands on activities. Yes, there will still be some lecture aspects to this class, after all there is a TON of material to be covered. However, participants can expect to be kept engaged while learning the material and every class will have a hands on lab component....
Students will identify similarities and differences in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Students will identify the importance of phospholipids in cells. Students will idendify cell stuctures and functions for plant and animal cells.
Week 1- Edible Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Cell Models. Participants will need a plastic Ziploc bag, spoon, Jell-o cup, Nerds candy and either Skittles or M&M's. Week 2- Phospholipids and begin identifying cell structures and functions. Participants will need water, dish soap, Qtips, paper bowl. Optional extra activity supplies would include milk, food color, dish soap and Qtips. Week 3- The Animal Cell. Participants will need 4-6 different colors of Play Doh. Week 4- The Plant Cell. Participants will need 4-6 different colors of Play Doh.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
