Description
Class Experience
Students will be able to approach their video editing projects with confidence and skill.
I've been on YouTube for four years. Not only have I been editing my own (instructional) videos, but I've also edited pre-screen auditions for my voice and acting students who are applying to college musical theatre programs and/or entering singing competitions and promotional materials for a few small businesses (solopreneurs), and I'm currently working on creating a digital course the uses video as its primary teaching medium.
While there won't be any formal homework for this class, I encourage students to practice editing videos during the week so that they'll remember how to perform the various tasks taught to them during class and improve their editing skills.
Please have HitFilm Express downloaded to your laptop. There are Windows and Mac versions. (Please note: The software cannot be downloaded to a Chrome Book.) https://fxhome.com/hitfilm-express The free version will be fine for what we'll be doing in class. You can always upgrade later if you find that you need more features. Also, please have a short video (maybe around 5 minutes in length) that you'd like to use to practice editing. This can be anything - a video of your dog playing in the yard, a video you've downloaded from YouTube, you gaming or talking to the camera about nothing in particular, etc. Nobody else is going to see it except you. We're going to be using this video just for practice purposes and to familiarize ourselves with some of the editing features of HitFilm Express.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
