Intro to Ballet with Miss Ann

This ongoing Intro to Ballet Class offers ballet exercises, intro to ballet terminology and a new creative movement portion with each class. Children learn basic ballet steps as well as the joy of movement.

Class Experience

Students will learn basic ballet steps - plie, releve, passe, port de bras, saute. They will also learn 2 out of the 5 positions of the feet, learn to count to 10 in french and several exercises on the floor for strength and conditioning.  There is a creative movement portion at the end of class which builds a sense of movement and a love for dance.
Ann Fields is a classically trained ballet dancer.  She has a BFA in Ballet and she also has her RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher) and her RCYT (Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher) certifications.  She has a passion for the arts, wellness and working with children. She  trained and was on faculty for 13 years at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.  She teaches classical ballet with an emphasis on technique.  She has a positive, nurturing demeanor yet, she begins to stress the discipline of the art at an early age.
There is no homework for this class unless your child wants to practice on their own.
If possible: Girls: Please have your child dress in pink tights, ballet slippers and a solid color leotard. If your child wants to wear a skirt, it must be taken off for the class portion of the class. She may put it on for the creative movement part of the end of class. Her hair should be pulled off the face in either a pony tail or a bun. Boys: Please have your child in a white or solid colored t-shirt and black leggings or tight fitting sweat pants. Shirt is to be tucked into leggings or pants. Ballet slippers as well.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners need to have a clutter free space.    Please have your child in ballet slippers and they should have a water bottle too.  Please watch your child during class for safety purposes.
