An analogy is a comparison between two things, typically for the purpose of explanation or clarification. Understanding analogies is critical to logic exercises and working with literary devices. An analogy looks at complex subjects and simplifies them through comparison. In this class, students will get an opportunity to solve analogy examples, identify the types of analogy and create their own. Some of the types of analogies that will be reviewed are synonyms, antonyms, object/action, measurement, part/whole, animal/habitat, cause/effect, and source/product.
Learning Goals
Students will get an opportunity to solve analogy examples, identify the types of analogy and create their own.

Virginia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello! My name is Ms. Ann and I have been a teacher for over a decade in the beautiful state of VA. I have taught several grades in both Elementary and Middle School. I love to teach. I think the best part of teaching is sharing my knowledge on a variety of subjects and helping students make connections to previous experiences or existing background knowledge.
I am a certified teacher in all core subjects: math, history, science, and language arts (grades K-8, Algebra, and gifted education), but my love has always been Math. I believe that successful teaching includes building relationships, interest, and engagement with students. When students are interested in the topic, they are more willing to participate, ask questions, and ultimately master the content.
I hope to see you in class soon!
