1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this highly-requested class from my current students, I decided to finally create a class centered around on-camera acting. With my experience in tv, film, and commercial acting, I will walk students through basic scripts that I wrote myself, as we rehearse, discuss, and perform 1 scene and 1 commercial. We will focus on memorization, movement, emotion, and script analysis, which I think are the basic tools to get started in on-camera acting. Please see the class breakdown below. 1. Introductions 2. Warm-up 3. Teach & Discuss basics of on-camera acting 4. Read & Discuss first scene 5. Go into breakout rooms with scene partners to rehearse scene 6. Come back & perform scenes and receive feedback. 7. Round 2 of scenes with more notes & tips 8. Break out rooms to rehearse 9. Perform/discuss 10. Commercial Segment: receive quick commercial scene 11. Rehearse in break out room. 12. Commercial performances 13. Discussion
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basic tools needed to act in front of the camera for tv, film, or commercial. They will learn memorization techniques, how to read & rehearse a script, and even a quick lesson on commercial acting. They will walk away with tools needed to dive deeper into acting in front of the camera, and possibly what it means to work in the industry itself.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from Indiana University
I am a "working actor" outside of class, and have lots of experience in commercials, auditioning for professional TV shows/films, and writing/producing my own scripts. I do have an "on-camera" agent and am always open to answering questions about the film industry. I first was a theatre actor before I did film, so I can work well with students who have that same background-- in teaching them how to transition from stage to on-camera acting. During COVID, I have "self-taped" auditions almost every week, and can teach students how to master that skill. While in Chicago, I've auditioned for movies, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and Chicago Fire, as well as various commercials. Please feel free to visit my website and commercial reel below.
