Students will create a work of art using two dimensional materials. Students will apply knowledge of at least one element or principle of art to a work of art each week. Students will learn about important artists and apply their thoughts and impressions to their own work.
I am a certified K-12 art educator with 20 years of classroom teaching experience. I am also a professional artist and children's book author-illlustrator.
As this is a semester long course, each lesson builds upon the next. There will be no work assigned outside of class, however there may be some weeks when a student may need extra time to finish.
Please note that we will spend time at the beginning of each class going over materials. While it is important to come to class prepared with materials, there is also some flexibility and we can work with what is available. In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No letter grades will be given in this class. Students will be informally assessed by checking in verbally and visually. There will be opportunity for students to self-reflect on their work.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
All materials are created by instructor and are presented in class.
