Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner Level
In this beginner level class, learners will be introduced to the basics of making handmade earrings with wire & beads. We will also talk about how to approach designing pieces and how to create jewelry to wear, give as gifts, or even sell.

Learners will be expected to purchase some basic tools & supplies in order to participate in this class.

This is a SELF PACED class - which means there are NO LIVE CLASSES. Instructional videos will be posted for your learner to watch and create along to, as well as optional classroom discussion. Students will be expected to also post photos of the work they have completed. The more your learner participates the more value they will get from this class!

Please see the attached Syllabus for details on each Lesson.

I want this to be a fun activity, & encourage my students to ask questions and share both their successes and struggles so we can all support each other & learn from one another.

NOTE: Learners should have the dexterity to use jewelry tools without assistance.

Learners will be expected to purchase some basic tools & supplies in order to participate in this class. This will be discussed during the first lesson, and will include:
* jewelry pliers (at least 1 set of either chain nose or flat nose, as well a set of round nose pliers, is recommended)
* flush wire cutters
* beads you like & want to use in your earrings
* wire (18/20/22/24 gauge aluminum, copper, brass, silver - NO STEEL WIRE, it will ruin your cutters!) - buy wire to fit the holes in your beads
* pre-made ear wires, jump rings, headpins, caps, etc. as desired for your desired earrings
* tiny dowel rods for making your own jump rings (optional)

These can be found at most crafts stores, as well as online. I will be sharing ideas of where to best find what you need.

Learning Goals

Learners will learn beginner jewelry skills & techniques each week while following along to step-by-step guided video lessons.
