Description
Class Experience
In this class we will "visit" the sea world and help Purple Mermaid to calm King Poseidon's temper. Throughout our journey we will listen to the fragments from famous pieces of classical music by following composers: • Rimsky-Korsakov • Saint-Saëns • Debussy • Smetana Students will reenact parts of different characters and play musical games. We will use our imagination and listening skills. In the second portion of the class, children will make a craft inspired by their musical...
Students will get familiarized with fragments of famous classical pieces. They will practice listening to short segments of classical music and expecting the "clues" from the music. Students will be encouraged to use their creative thinking while playing musical games and making crafts.
Materials for the craft: 1. Cardboard cut out from cereal (or cookie) box OR 1 sheet of construction paper 2. Construction (or any other paper) the colors of sea 3. 1 sheet of white paper 4. 2 cotton balls (optional) 5. Stickers or cutouts of sea animals and fish (optional) 6. Markers 7. Scissors 8. Glue 9. Scotch tape
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
For the craft portion of the class parental guidance is required for younger students (ages 4-5) for the use of scissors and other materials. Parental guidance is recommended for older students (ages 6-7).
