Description
Class Experience
By the end of the course, learners will have an understanding of a variety of issues related to gender inequality and will be inspired to fight for equity in their own lives. Students will have tools in their feminist tool-kit in a variety of subject areas including LGBTQ+ rights, environmentalism, film theory, and more.
I am a Ph.D. student in the field of Gender, Feminism, and Women's Studies with a passion for feminism and social justice.
Learners will be encouraged to participate on the weekly discussion posted after class with myself and their peers. I will provide discussion questions to help get the conversations rolling. There is one final project that will happen in week 10, outlined above in the course description.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will be having conversations around potentially sensitive subjects including gender inequality and racism. I am trained as a feminist scholar and will ensure that the class is a safe place for these conversations to take place with teenage learners.
Learners will sometimes be given a link to a YouTube video to supplement in class learning.
