Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone! My name is Jessica Cunningham. I was born and raised in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I have been married to my husband, Thomas, for 5 years and we have a dog named, Benji. I love to travel and spend time with friends and family. I also enjoy hiking and doing DIY projects around my house.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. I also have my Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law. In 2017, I passed the bar exam and am now a licensed attorney in Oklahoma. While practicing law, I began mentoring students and substituting throughout the Fort Smith Public School district.
After practicing law for a couple of years, I decided to apply for the Arkansas Professional Pathway to Educator Licensure. This program allows candidates to obtain their teaching license while teaching full-time. I got accepted and have a K-6 license to teach. I was hired to teach at Mansfield Elementary School. Last year, I taught Kindergarten and fell in love with it. I developed professional but meaningful relationships with my students and their parents. My kindergarteners were very successful in my classroom. The vast majority of them were reading by January and February! This year, I’m teaching 4th grade, all subjects. I love teaching 4th grade just as much as I loved teaching Kindergarten!
On Outschool, I plan to teach a variety of classes such as Fundations, reading, writing, grammar, and civics. I also plan on teaching other classes relating to sports, arts and crafts, music, or anything that may fall outside of the typical academic classes. I’m passionate about teaching and cannot wait to fill my classes with awesome students who are eager to learn!
