Class Experience

Students will improve their understanding of how to keep themselves and their friends safe in online environments.
I am offering this class as I have a Bachelor of Arts Honours Specialization in Kinesiology and am a Teacher Candidate in a Bachelor of Education program (teachables include Physical Education/Health and Science). I have taken multiple classes in child safety, those including internet safety and bullying. I have also kept my First Aid and CPR C up-to-date. I have past experiences teaching children about hazards, bullying, and how to keep safe. As well, I have past experience teaching youth how to use social emotional strategies when dealing with bullying and other stressors in their lives. Additionally, I am an athletic trainer for youth and competitive sports teams.
No homework will be assigned. Students will be encouraged to practice the tips they have learned and apply them to their online daily interactions.
Curriculum materials will be supplied by the teacher. Students to not need to purchase any materials for this course.

** Students will require a few sheets of paper and a pencil (if they would like to use coloured pencils/markers/crayons they most definitely can).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No formal assessment will be utilized. Students will be provided feedback based on in-class discussion and participation.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners will be discussing internet safety and cyberbullying.
