Class Experience

1. Students will learn about the following Global Trends and how they are likely to effect their lives in the future
     a. Culture and Populations
     b. The Environment
     c. The Digital Age
     d. Technological Innovations
2. Students will learn about the power of graphs and other graphics to express large amounts of information.
3. Students will learn how to take information like this and apply it to their lives.
I have a Master's Degree in Education and a Bachelors Degree in Economics. This course is about teaching how economic trends effect everyday life so my background is well suited for it.
Students will have required homework in the following forms:
1. Daily reading (5-10 minutes)
2. Daily Writing about the reading (5-10 minutes)
3. Weekly extra research on one of the topics they choose (30 minutes)

Students will also have a project that is due in Week 7 of the class. This project will have students, preferably working in a group but can be individual work, choose one of their Weekly research topics to turn into a presentation either as a few graphs and pictures like the book OR as a podcast OR as a video.
Students will need the book titled "Signals" by Jeff Desjardins.
Students will need something to take notes with each class also.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1. Students will have discussion time throughout each class where their level of understanding will be graded.
2. Students will have daily and weekly homework that will be graded.
3. Students will have a final project which will also be graded.
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
