Have you ever wondered what it's like to be in charge of an entire country? To make decisions that impact millions of people? Welcome to international relations! In this class, each student will represent a different country. Each class, a news brief will be presented, and students will have to react and make decisions for their country based on what happens in the news. They can form trade deals, make secret alliances, implement sanctions, and even go to war! During the first meeting,...
This class is taught in English.
Students will gain a greater understanding of the complexities of international relations, how to manage and juggle multiple serious scenarios at the same time, the importance of diplomacy, and the scope of international influence.
I have a degree in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations and a minor in history. One of my favorite classes in college was one that was similar to this, and it had a strong impact on all of us who participated! I also have a graduate certificate in gifted education, which is especially important for classes like this where we want to promote higher-order thinking skills for students of all ability levels.
Learners will work on and submit their actions after each class finishes on zoom.
3 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
