Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in Spanish.
The main goal is to expose students to a level of Spanish that is higher than their current one, become confident with its use and meaning, internalize it and be ready to use it when it is needed. October’s story is about things we like and dislike. In particular, we’ll talk about food in a story called, “¡Qué asco!” (How gross!). LANGUAGE The following functions, expressions, vocabulary and structures will be covered in different activities so that the students have multiple opportunities to acquire and practice the language through reading, listening, speaking and writing. Exclamations. ¡Qué+ adjectives! Past tense of verbs in the context of eating, restaurants, food preparation, tastes etc. Reading and creating menus (orally and writing). Indirect and direct pronouns (me, te, le, lo, la, les). Verbs that conjugate like “me gusta, me gustan” (me encanta, me emociona, me da asco, me disgusta, me entristece etc.) Vocabulary and expressions related to meals, restaurants, kitchen, menus etc.
I am a native speaker and have taught Spanish for over 20 years in a variety of settings, including traditional schools and college as well as online private and group classes. I hold a Master of Arts in Linguistics and a Master in Spanish Education.
Students are encouraged to expose themselves to Spanish and to practice beyond class. I'll provide voluntary activities for reinforcement.
Students are encouraged to have a pen and paper to hand write notes and/or responses during exercises and activities.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I'll assess progress by checking understanding and production of the language.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
