Class Experience

This class is taught in Spanish.
The main goal is to expose students to a level of Spanish that is higher than their current one, become confident with its use and meaning, internalize it and be ready to use it when it is needed.

STORY (Stories might change or be adapted)
November’s story is about accepting or declining invitations. It is called “La invitación” (The invitation).

The following functions, expressions, vocabulary and structures will be covered in different activities so that the students have multiple opportunities to acquire and practice the language.

Future tense of verbs related to plans we have in the near future. (Future Simple and Ir a + infinitive)
Formally and informally Invite someone to do something at a specific time and date. (Orally and Writing)
Giving excuses using poder, tener, apetecer, querer etc. (Can, be able, feel like, want etc.)
Vocabulary related to activities such as going to the movies, fishing, spending time together.
Past tense and Present tense verbs in the context of obligations, possibilities, availability etc.
Structures using conmigo, contigo etc.

I am a native speaker and have taught Spanish for over 20 years in a variety of settings, including traditional schools and college as well as online private and group classes. I hold a Master of Arts in Linguistics and a Master in Spanish Education.
Students are encouraged to expose themselves to Spanish and to practice beyond class. I'll provide voluntary activities for reinforcement.
Students are encouraged to have a pen and paper to hand write notes and/or responses during exercises and activities.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I'll assess progress by checking understanding and production of the language.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
