TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL CLASS

1. It is important to see learners' faces and hands during the class. Have learners sitting at their piano/keyboard and have your device able to capture them from the head to their lower ribcage. I will be able to offer learners feedback on the use of their hands/fingers this way during the lesson. (Example Picture is provided below) I would highly discourage using a Phone or other small devices for this class. The larger the screen, the better experience your learner will have.

2. Please have all Materials ready prior to starting class. Learners will need a Piano or Keyboard, Pencil, Ear Phones/Buds, and Method Books for each class.

3. In some lessons, learners will need to write in their Method Books. Please make sure your space is equipped for this to be possible with a clipboard, desk, or something hard to write on.

4. Younger learners WILL benefit from having an adult sitting next to them (off camera) for help, especially in the first class or two. Learning the piano virtually is possible, but may need adult supervision to get started. You know your child best!

5. Ensure learners are in a quiet space or have earphones/buds to allow them to hear the teacher and stay engaged.

Maryland Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Hello Outschool Families! I’m a certified educator in the USA. I've been teaching on Outschool for two years now and have loved establishing relationships with learners and their families, some I still have since I started! I've been teaching the Piano for just over 15 years and teaching a variety of other Performing Arts subjects since graduating with my degree in Music Education in 2009.

Music has been a passion of mine since I was a child. I grew up in a musical family, sang in church and school, began piano lessons in first grade, was in several musicals, was in the band where I played the flute and piccolo, and lead music at my church on the worship team. I am passionate about students and education! Here are a couple facts about me.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education
- Certified Teacher
- Primary Instruments: Piano, Voice and Flute.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
- Private Instruction for 15+ years
- Public Elementary School Music Teacher for 11 years
- Public Middle School Performing Arts Teacher for 2 years
- Summer Camps (Church and Public Performing Arts)

CLASSES TAUGHT
I've taught a variety of subjects, but my favorite are Performing Arts Classes. I've taken my Choirs to perform at Disney World and have directed Musicals in Elementary Schools and Middle Schools including, Jungle Book Kids and Beauty and the Beast Junior. Below are just selection of classes I have experience teaching.

- Choir/Chorus (in person)
- Beginning Band (in person)
- Voice Lessons (in person/online)
- Piano Lessons (in person/online)
- Musical Theater (in person)
- Orff Ensemble (in person)
- Recorder (in person/online)
- Group Piano Classes (in person/online)
- Audition Preparation (in person/online)
- Music Theory (in person/online)

I believe it’s important to be a life long learner and that’s why Outschool is so awesome. This platform allows learners to hone in on a specific subject, learn more about what they’re interested in, or discover their talent in the fine arts developing students into well rounded individuals! My goal is that every learner and family leaves my class feeling their time was well spent!

I look forward to getting to know you and hope our time together will leave a lasting impact!
