Class Experience

In this course, Rapunzel will introduce the "long A" vowel sound to learners who are ready to move beyond CVC words. First, Rapunzel will introduce the rules of the "long A" vowel sound which include [ay], [a_e], [ai]. Then, we will watch a short music video and sing along as we extend our learning of the rules. Next, learners will take turns reading from the book, "A Day Away" featuring Princess Jasmine and her day away from the castle. As we come across new words that feature the "long A" vowel sound, we will take the opportunity to write these words. The class will finish with a fun sing-along song from the movie Tangled, and if we have time left over, we can share our favorite princess dolls and toys. This class is sure to keep your little learner entertained while implementing valuable concepts found in intermediate phonics.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ms. Autumn. Thank you for stopping by my profile! I am looking forward to meeting your little learner soon. I teach preschool and kindergarten aged courses. I have been teaching this age group in online and in-person settings for 6 years. I love to help my students learn proper vocal technique and conditioning using warm-ups that broaden the range and tonal quality. During private voice lessons, we will also practice pitch matching and lyric guessing games while having fun! I have a Bachelor of Arts from North Carolina State University with a major in Developmental Psychology.

I believe my teaching style to be very engaging, encouraging, and enthusiastic. I love bringing smiles to my students' faces during class and helping them to feel pride in their accomplishments. This is why I regularly throw out Hatchimals toys as rewards for doing a great job singing!

In my experience teaching, I have seen how music and singing helps children retain information, as well as create a positive and joyful experience. As a professional singer in Las Vegas and Macau, China for six years, I would describe my style of teaching as “edu-taining”. A fun fact about me is that sometimes I like to teach classes from my class A motor home while my family and I travel all over the country! I hope to see your little ones in my classroom soon!
