WHAT WILL BE TAUGHT: In this pencil art class, many fundamentals are introduced and reviewed week to week, including: • Image transfer techniques to help with basic composition setting • Shading and using light and shadow to create the illusion of volume and realistic dimension • Mark making, contouring and textures • Instruction for properly applying graphite and using other art supplies like blending stumps, tortillions, precision erasers, etc. MY EXPERIENCE & TEACHING STYLE: My approach...
The objective for each learner, quite simply, is to strengthen fundamental shading and textural drawing skills. Our primary goals are to master pencil techniques while honing our skills of perspective, proportion, mark-making and shading.
Homework Offered
I assign "drawing studies" which may take approx 30 minutes or more weekly.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Rather than assessment, I work to enable my young learners to get better at self-critiquing. Find the problem areas, celebrate the successful areas, and keep making progress! I discuss the emotional aspects of positive or negative self-talk and help set realistic expectations.Grades Offered
