Class Experience

This course is for the students who know how to build a major and minor scales and wants to continue to expand their knowledge of music theory.

All students are welcomed. Whether they are a jazz musician, a composer of orchestral music, or you just want to learn more music theory, each student will be able to learn something in this course.

We will begin the class by discussing the harmonic and melodic minor scales then progress to non-chord tones, the inversions of 7ths, and finish with secondary dominance.

This entire class will be using blank sheet music and a pencil so please make sure that your student has access to at least 10 blank pages of sheet music.

It is recommended that your student has an understanding of the circle of 5ths, how to build a major and minor scale, as well as how to build and invert chords. Also, it will be beneficial to your student if they understand how to play an instrument that plays the notation and pitches practiced in theory. This includes, but not limited to, the piano, the guitar, bass, or any instrument that can play a musical note.

I teach a beginner's course as well if your student wishes to learn the beginning fundamentals of Music Theory.
