I have been learning and coding Java for 20 years. I can answer any questions they come up with. I can help direct them to good information for continued learning.

Make sure they have a computer with Java Developer Kit installed. Make sure they know how to make, compile and run basic apps. Visual Studio Code is a great code editor. JEdit at jedit.org is a Java Code editor. JetBrains, InteliJ Idea is the best IDE. It's worth $15/mo.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal, I will simply question them to see if they are getting the ideas I present.
1 hour 55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Anytime web is searched for forum post there is potential for foul language in text. Or if groups and chat rooms for programmers are used. It's not usual but in public forums it is possible. If I spot something bad I'll exit.
There are many good books on Java Language and UI coding. There used to a set of books called "Core" this or that. Those were great.
