Class Experience

Analyze the importance of macro-and micronutrients (nutrients) in choosing nutritious foods for an athlete. 
Analyze the impact of exercise-related anemia on an athlete’s fitness. 
Examine the relationship between nutrition and physical performance
Describe both the process of digestion and metabolism 
Determine factors that influence an athlete’s health, fitness, and sports performance.
Evaluate the impact of lifestyle choices on the physical performance of an athlete. 
Evaluate the effect of ergogenic aids on an athlete’s performance
Hi, and thank you for checking out my course. I'm Erin and I am a Nutritionist for over 5 years. I graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Human Nutrition with a Major in Dietetics. During my time at university, I have studied nutrition extensively from the moment food gets in our mouths, and how food can impact our digestion and overall health. I own my own nutrition practice, here in Nova Scotia, Canada, and I counsel clients regularly on how to adopt healthier choices, including several athletes. I have certifications in sports nutrition and bodybuilding. I love how the body works and it is so important how you are fueling each day with the right foods for optimal performance. 

Since our food trends keep evolving, it is my job to make sure your learners are receiving the correct scientific information and to eliminate all the nutrition noise from uncredited sources. I can't wait to meet your learner in my upcoming class. 
Homework will be assigned every week and will include macro calculations, calculating their own calorie needs, nutrient timing worksheets, food labeling workings, and many more. 
Learners should bring a calculator, pen/pencil and notepaper and binder
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
We will briefly discuss the dangers of steroids, supplements, and how they affect an athlete's health on Day 16.
