In this one time, 60 minute course, students will be taught how to divide numbers that result in a terminating decimals, or repeating decimal. Students will begin class with simple even division problems that will lead into harder division problems that involve word problems, decimals and fractions. The class is extremely interactive and structured with lecture and response. The students are required to go through slides that then switch over to Nearpod. Nearpod is a very interactive tool...
Learning Goals: Students will be taught the proper way to read the word problem and set up a division problem. Students are required to have some knowledge of multiplication, subtraction, and addition. Some students will be further ahead and this course if they have a deeper understanding of division. Learning goals in this class include understanding the proper language, vocabulary, and set up of a division problem. Learning goals also include the knowledge that students will gain after this class of how to divide whole numbers, and partial numbers (i.e. decimals and fractions).
This course is not a sensitive or high-risk topic. Students will feel safe in this space as we will be discussing mathematics.
This class does not have a signed homework as students will be left with additional practice problems. The key will also be left with these additional practice problems that parents will be able to check once the page is completed.
Students will need: Pencil, paper, good listening ears and a great attitude!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
One major tool that will be used in this course is near pod. Nearpod creates quizzes in the form of games and students will be assessed in this manner. Students will also be required to match pairs, understand the vocabulary with fill in the blank, and more,
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
No inappropriate or sensitive material involved.
We will be using the tool Nearpod during class.
