Students should have an idea of what they want to work on during our tutoring session. They do not need a concrete goal for the session, but a concrete goal can help. Some examples include: - I want to work on translating this presentation from English to ASL. - I want to work on improving my fingerspelling (this will not take 55 minutes). - I want to work on reviewing my vocabulary. - I want to work on improving my receptive ASL skills (ability to understand ASL). - I have a specific assignment I would like support on (I do not give answers).

Teacher expertise and credentials
California Teaching Certificate in Foreign Language
Doctoral Degree in Education from California Lutheran University
Hello! I am a Deaf (Hard-of-Hearing) ASL teacher in California. I've taught ASL 1, 2, 3CP, and 3 Honors for almost a decade. Additionally, I have presented at conferences for ASL teachers and non-ASL teachers. I also mentored four ASL teachers as they began their teaching careers. I also wrote my own curriculum series used in a handful of high school ASL programs.
Here, I teach classes to support students taking their ASL learning to the next level! ASL and English have different grammar and sentence structures and can be difficult for beginner students. Even students who have been studying for a long time can struggle with switching from an auditory language to a visuospatial language. Students looking for a challenge and taking their learning to the next level can find it here.
PROFESSIONAL MISSION STATEMENT:
To educate, inspire, and lead high school students toward becoming citizens who are aware and accepting of a diverse world.
