Homework
1-2 hours per week. Homework for this class will be in the form of mini-recordings. For example, the student will record herself reading a short section of a paragraph. We will also make use of Quizlet to practice and reinforce what was learned in class.

Class Experience

Congratulations on completing the Arabic for Beginners series! 

In Intermediate Arabic 1, we will expand on what you have learned so that you can read and express more complex ideas. We will encounter new vocabulary and grammatical structures. Throughout this class, I will make sure to support and maintain your previously acquired skills, but also add ways to combine and connect sentences, as well as express contrast. There will be 8 total lessons spread over 4 weeks.

Please note that the Arabic for Beginners 1-3 sequence, or previous experience studying Arabic, are necessary before taking this class. Feel free to reach out if you have questions about placement.
 
Week 1
- Review of verbs and expressions learned in previous levels
- Using verbs to talk about daily routines

Week 2
- Expressing purpose in the present tense 
- Introduction to adverbial clauses

Week 3
- Talking about future plans
- Practicing sentences using “Masdar” (Substantive nouns) 

Week 4
- Regular plural + writing and reading practice 
- General review

Master's Degree in English from San Francisco State University, MA in Linguistics
After obtaining my BA in English, I was determined to work with languages. In 2003, I joined an acclaimed center in Rabat, Morocco where I was trained to teach Arabic. I taught Modern Standard Arabic and Darija (Moroccan Arabic) to students from different parts of the world. 

After moving to California, I continued working as a teacher. I taught Arabic, French, and English as a second language for various institutions, including Berlitz, ABC Languages, and Fresno State University. In 2013, I received my Master's in Linguistics from San Francisco State University.
